Asha Boston was selected to co-create a limited edition sneaker through sneaker design lab, Cultivator and Nike’s new customization initiative, NIKEBYYOU inspired by her film, A Time Before Kale.
The sneaker, named the R46 is inspired by the R46 MTA subway car, on the A line, designed by Kawasaki in 1975. It's currently the oldest running subway car and will be retired in 2020. In 1936, the A train was extended and helped connect the black community in Harlem to the black community in Bed-Stuy.
